Josh Hokit has taken his controversial nature to an entirely new level.
Since his UFC debut last year, Hokit has rapidly ascended to superstardom. In just 10 months, the heavyweight has won all four of his fights, and now bigger opportunities await. The UFC matchmakers have selected him to face French fighter Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight championship. Typically, this would be a time for intense training and avoiding distractions to focus on winning the title. However, Hokit is choosing a different path.
Instead of laying low, he drew attention by choking a fan during a meet-and-greet event. When asked by a fan to demonstrate a rear naked choke, Hokit eagerly complied.
It’s not unusual for UFC fighters to engage with fans by showing moves like strikes or submissions, but what set Hokit’s encounter apart was the fan’s reaction.
Hokit applied the rear naked choke for several seconds until the fan went limp, gently lowering him to the floor to help him recover. However, before the fan could regain full consciousness, he began to convulse briefly before waking up.
In a strange twist, instead of immediately getting up or looking around in confusion, the fan’s first action upon waking was to reach for a drink of water.
