Steven Borden is recovering well following his injury at AEW All Out. The injury occurred toward the end of his tag team match alongside Darby Allin against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher.
During the match, Borden and Knight both jumped from opposite sides of the ring and collided midair. After they fell, the referee halted the match and declared Knight and Fletcher the winners.
AEW President Tony Khan updated fans during the post-show press conference, revealing that Borden was conscious and responsive at the hospital. His CT scan and other medical tests all came back clear.
On the podcast What Happened When, AEW announcer Tony Schiavone shared news from a recent conversation with Borden. Schiavone noted that Borden reported no headaches or dizziness and emphasized that a formal diagnosis would come from AEW’s medical team. Borden expressed that his biggest worry was the impact of his injury on the event.
Schiavone said, “I spoke with Steven yesterday, and he said he’s feeling fine. Despite years of playing football at the University of Kentucky without concussions, this was a new experience for him. He was more concerned about spoiling the pay-per-view, but I reassured him that the crowd’s response and our announcements had everyone relieved and uplifted.”
No return timeline has been announced for Borden, and Schiavone confirmed he is also uncertain how long his recovery will take. “They need to clear him before he competes again. It was a very frightening moment.”
Steven Borden is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.
Fan Take: This update is crucial for fight fans as Borden is a promising rising star in AEW, and his health is paramount for the sport’s future. His quick recovery will not only reassure fans but also underscore the growing emphasis on safety in professional wrestling.
