Josh Hokit, who remains undefeated, consistently takes aim at his longtime rival, former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira.
Tensions between the two began escalating just days before the UFC event at the White House. Hokit hasn’t held back on criticizing Pereira, even making pointed personal remarks about the Brazilian fighter. Pereira, now 39, has mostly stayed silent in response.
Recently, Hokit gave Pereira a new mocking nickname and joked that “Poatan” might be engaging in witchcraft, using his signature phrase “Chama” to cast spells worldwide. In a conversation with Paul Felder and Michael Bisping, the 28-year-old fighter said:
“The auraless sorceress is what I call him. The btch that be doing witchcraft… Him and his BBL could go to hell. He paints his face in woman’s mascara, acts like he’s shooting people with a bow. No wonder his fcking people got conquered; we come up, and we shoot you.”
Fans can hear Hokit’s full remarks about Pereira in the embedded clip below.
Hokit is set to challenge the new heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane at UFC 334, while Pereira currently has no announced fights. Still, the prospect of a showdown between “The Incredible Hok” and “Poatan” remains highly anticipated among fans.
During the same interview, Hokit also reminisced about a moment with Ciryl Gane when they shared a locker room at the White House event on June 14. He recalled teasing Gane about basketball skills, confidently claiming he could beat the French fighter in any sport.
“We were sharing a locker room together. I saw him and I pressed him about basketball. I was like ‘how long you’ve been playing basketball?… It don’t fcking matter how long, you can’t defend this move’. And so I backed him down and I did my little fadeway. I had about 5 to 7 yards of space. And I was like, you can’t fuk with me Ciryl Gane. They say you are athletic. I can beat you in any sport.”
Josh Hokit’s comments about Gane are also featured in the video clip below.
Fan Take: This rivalry heats up the heavyweight division, injecting fresh drama and anticipation among fight enthusiasts. If Hokit and Pereira eventually face off, it could be one of the most electrifying matchups in recent MMA history, potentially redefining the sport’s competitive landscape.
