Real Madrid has officially signed Trent Alexander-Arnold, with both clubs confirming this on Friday. As reported by ESPN, they reached an agreement for a €10 million ($11.3 million) contract, allowing for an early release so he can participate in the Club World Cup.

Liverpool had earlier stated that Alexander-Arnold would depart Anfield this summer after he opted to sign a new deal with his childhood club.

Subsequently, Real Madrid negotiated with the Premier League champions to finalize the transfer ahead of the contract’s expiration on June 30, 2025.

The transfer will be completed when the Summer Transfer window opens on Sunday. Alexander-Arnold’s debut opportunity with Madrid will come during their first match in the Club World Cup against Al-Hilal on June 18 in Miami, Florida.

Madrid has secured a six-year deal, acknowledging Liverpool’s involvement in the transfer, although the specific amount was not disclosed.

Liverpool made a statement saying, “Alexander-Arnold expressed his gratitude to Liverpool FC and acknowledged the club’s vital role in his success.”

Aged 26, Alexander-Arnold will bolster Madrid’s defensive lineup for the tournament, joining fellow England teammate Jude Bellingham, who was also signed from a Premier League club.

Madrid believes that bringing Alexander-Arnold in early will help him integrate with the team ahead of the 2025-26 season, improving their chances for success in the tournament.

Having secured all major trophies with Liverpool—including the 2019 Champions League and two Premier League titles in 2020 and 2025—Alexander-Arnold is looking for a new challenge at this point in his career.

**Fan Take:** This transfer is significant as it marks a major shift in Real Madrid’s strategy to revamp their squad, highlighting their intent to compete at the highest level.
