Brock Lesnar was honored with an induction into the University of Minnesota M Club Hall of Fame during a ceremony held on Friday at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Lesnar is among 10 former Golden Gophers athletes included in the 2026 induction class, which the university revealed in July. The group also features Guillermo Alvarez (men’s gymnastics), Luke Appert (baseball), Daniel Croaston (men’s swimming and diving), Lauren Gibbemeyer-Mendes (volleyball), Jody Horak (women’s hockey), Sean Lumpkin (football), Larry Olimb (men’s hockey), Sarah (Wilhite) Parsons (volleyball), and Lezlie Weiss (softball). These honorees will also be celebrated during Saturday’s home football game against Michigan.
An Instagram photo from the event shows Lesnar dressed in a suit and wearing glasses.
During his collegiate wrestling career at Minnesota from 1998 to 2000, Lesnar posted an impressive 55-3 record with 23 pins. He was the NCAA heavyweight runner-up in 1999 before capturing the NCAA heavyweight title in 2000.
Lesnar made his main roster debut in WWE in 2002, competed in the Minnesota Vikings’ NFL preseason in 2004, and claimed the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2008 before returning to WWE in 2012.
This induction comes just two months after Lesnar announced his retirement from professional wrestling on the Pat McAfee Show. His final bout was a loss to Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell during the main event on the first night of SummerSlam on August 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Fan Take: Brock Lesnar’s Hall of Fame induction highlights the incredible crossover success he has had across multiple combat sports, inspiring both fighters and fans alike. His legacy reinforces how diverse skill sets and relentless determination can elevate the sport, paving the way for future athletes to break boundaries between wrestling and MMA.
