Dominik Mysterio is set to face El Grande Americano for the AAA Mega Championship at the Heroes Inmortales event on Saturday, October 24, held at the Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City. This bout is one of three title matches confirmed for the show.
Mysterio secured this rematch on the October 3 episode of AAA on Fox, which also revealed the Trios and Cruiserweight title contenders. In the main event, Mysterio teamed with Omos to defeat El Grande Americano and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio. The match had a stipulation that a win would earn Dominik a championship opportunity. During the contest, Dominik removed his father’s mask and then struck Americano with the Mega Championship belt while the referee was distracted, leading to his victory.
El Grande Americano had captured the Mega Championship from Dominik at Triplemania 34’s second night on September 13, also in Mexico City. The deciding pinfall was counted by Rey Mysterio after the official referee was incapacitated. This controversial finish set the stage for the upcoming match, as AAA’s Dorian Roldán began the current show demanding Rey overturn the result and restore the title to Dominik. Roldán challenged Rey’s authority by questioning whether he was the official referee, and emphasized that without a referee license from the Mexico City Lucha Libre Commission, the title decision should be reversed or legal action would follow.
In response, El Grande Americano accepted the tag match and its stipulation.
Additionally, Los Perros del Mal (Daga, Angel, and Berto) will defend the AAA World Trios Championship against La Parka, Mr. Iguana, and Niño Hamburguesa, who is also the AAA Latin American Champion.
Rey Fenix is set to defend the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against the winner of a No. 1 contender’s four-way match scheduled for the October 10 AAA on Fox episode. The contenders for this match are Nobu San (of the Tokyo Boys), Mini Vikingo, Jack Cartwheel, and Joaquin Wilde. Fenix had previously held onto the title at Triplemania 34 against Cartwheel, Mini Vikingo, and Nathan Frazer.
The event will also honor Marisela Peña, sister of AAA founder Antonio Peña, with an induction into the AAA Hall of Fame. Heroes Inmortales is held annually in memory of Antonio Peña, who passed away in 2006. Last year, Dominik Mysterio headlined the event, defending the Mega Championship against Dragon Lee.
The confirmed matches and induction include:
- AAA Mega Championship: El Grande Americano (c) vs. Dominik Mysterio
- AAA World Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Fenix (c) vs. TBD (Nobu San, Mini Vikingo, Jack Cartwheel, or Joaquin Wilde)
- AAA World Trios Championship: Los Perros del Mal (Daga, Angel, and Berto) (c) vs. La Parka, Mr. Iguana, and Niño Hamburguesa
- Marisela Peña’s induction into the AAA Hall of Fame
The event starts at 7 p.m. Mexico City time (9 p.m. ET) and will be broadcast on Fox platforms across Latin America, as well as streamed on WWE and AAA’s YouTube channels. Tickets are available through Boletomóvil, with the date and location announced in August.
Fan Take: This headline bout adds a compelling chapter to the storied Mysterio legacy while showcasing the growing international appeal of AAA wrestling. For fighting fans, the event underscores how vibrant storytelling and high-stakes competition keep the sport thrilling and unpredictable.
