Giants Secure Top Talent: First-Round Pick Jackson Dirt Inks Rookie Contract

The New York Giants announced on Friday that quarterback and first-round pick Jaxson Dart has officially signed his rookie contract. According to ESPN, the agreement is a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth $17 million.

On draft night, the Giants traded their 34th and 99th overall picks along with a 2026 third-round pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for the 25th overall pick, which they used to select Dart. The Giants also chose Pennsylvania’s defensive standout, the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Carter, who signed his rookie contract earlier this month.

Dart began his college career at USC in 2021 before transferring to Ole Miss, where he played for the last three seasons, helping the Rebels achieve a 29-10 record. Last season, Dart completed 69.3% of his passes, threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions, with a passer rating of 180.7 — leading the SEC in all three categories.

Dart joins a quarterback room that includes veteran free-agent acquisitions Russell Wilson and Jamie Swinston, as well as Tommy DeVito, who started eight games for the Giants over the past two seasons. He becomes the second Ole Miss quarterback drafted by the Giants, following Eli Manning, who spent his entire NFL career with the team despite being drafted by Washington in 2004.

Fan Take: This signing marks an exciting new chapter for the Giants’ quarterback future, blending young talent with seasoned veterans. For NFL fans, Dart’s potential to emerge as a franchise quarterback could have a significant impact on the league’s competitive landscape in the coming years.
