Angel Reese’s Shot Chart vs. the Wings Paints a Stark Reality for the Sky

Angel Reese’s shooting performance against the Dallas Wings highlights some significant challenges for the Chicago Sky forward. Known primarily as a dominant rebounder and one of the league’s top board specialists, Reese has also shown she can be an efficient scorer. However, in a recent game on the road against Dallas, she struggled with a field goal percentage of just 31.3%, a tough stat for any player, especially one who rarely shoots from beyond the arc. Reese had attempted only 19 three-pointers in 39 professional games before this match.

During the game, her shooting actually declined further, going 4-for-13. This was particularly concerning because she typically takes most of her shots close to the basket, yet she shot poorly even within the paint. Statistics showed that nearly 92% of her attempts were within 10 feet, but she managed just 28.0% shooting from under 3 feet and 36.8% from 3 to 10 feet.

Despite a promise made at training camp to expand her game in her second year — including working on mid-range shots and even threes — Reese has struggled to implement those changes effectively. Although she saw slight improvement in the second half, her overall performance left much to be desired.

This report was initially published by Athlon Sports on June 1, 2025.

Fan Take: Angel Reese’s struggles with shooting efficiency highlight a key developmental phase in her career that WNBA fans should watch closely. If she can improve her scoring consistency, it could elevate her impact on the court and help grow the league’s reputation for versatile and dynamic post players.
