The New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program revealed that its 17th Annual Breeders’ Cup Pledge has already raised over $100,000 in estimated early donations, continuing a long-standing tradition of converting racing achievements into vital support for retired racehorses. This year’s fundraising drive was boosted by the successes of pledge-supported horses such as Further Ado, Kathynmarissa, Hughes, Benvenuto Cellini, Haffner, and Sun Goddess, along with strong finishes from American History, Gimme a Nother, Explora, Measure, Diamond Necklace, and Golden Tempo, all contributing to increased funds for Thoroughbred aftercare.
With donations still arriving and final totals yet to be calculated, the amount raised is expected to climb. Since starting in 2009, the Breeders’ Cup Pledge has gathered over $1 million, with every dollar going directly toward New Vocations’ efforts in rehabilitating, retraining, and finding new homes for retired racehorses. The organization supports more than 600 horses each year and recently celebrated having helped over 10,000 horses since its founding.
Eric Gustavson of Spendthrift Farm expressed his support, praising Anna Ford and her team for their dedication to giving racehorses new lives by connecting them with caring owners. This year’s winning contributors include notable names like Coolmore Partners, White Birch Farm, Starlight Racing, Michael Dubb, Waves Edge Capital, Stonestreet Stables, Spendthrift Farm, Front Row Club, Madaket Stables, LLC, and Bob Baffert.
Anna Ford, Executive Director of New Vocations, expressed deep gratitude to the owners, trainers, and connections involved, emphasizing that the campaign—featuring 47 horses—is about more than just celebrating victories on the track. It highlights the importance of ensuring every horse has a life after racing and helps raise vital awareness and resources to expand aftercare programs.
