Following his recent victory to claim the TNA World Title at Bound For Glory, Leon Slater aimed to become a double champion by teaming with Amazing Red to challenge the Nemeth brothers for the TNA Tag Team Championships on Thursday night’s “Impact.” However, Slater’s plan fell short as the Nemeths defended their titles successfully.
The match began with Red and Nic Nemeth locking up, with Nic taking control via a headlock. Using quick tags, the champions maintained momentum through effective teamwork until Slater interrupted by landing a series of right hands on Nic. Red continued the offense by hitting Ryan with a dropkick.
When Red and Slater tried to execute a double dive, the Nemeth brothers wisely retreated up the ramp to avoid it. Attempting to exit with their championships in hand, the champions were instead cornered and slammed against the steel steps.
In the final moments, Slater struck Nic with a forearm, but before Red could pin Nic, Ryan disrupted the referee by driving him into Slater. Both challengers were then struck with the tag belts. Once the referee recovered, Nic secured the win by landing the Danger Zone on Red.
This victory means Nic and Ryan Nemeth successfully defended their TNA Tag Team Championships, titles they had recently regained after defeating The Hardys at TNA Lockdown.
Fan Take: This intense matchup highlights the growing dominance of the Nemeth brothers in TNA’s tag team division and sets a new standard for high-stakes tag team wrestling. Fighting fans should watch closely, as this rivalry could elevate the sport’s excitement and bring fresh storylines to the forefront.
