WNBA Sensation Ricket Jackson Addresses Pregnancy Rumors Amid Team Absence

WNBA star Rikkea Jackson addressed pregnancy rumors after missing a recent game, originally reported by Athlon Sports. On Sunday, the Los Angeles Sparks endured a tough defeat against the Phoenix Mercury, struggling particularly in the second half with a 6-for-30 shooting absence after a promising start that saw them score 18 points. Odyssey Sims led the Sparks with 32 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. A notable absentee was Jackson, the team’s second-year standout guard and 2024 WNBA Draft’s fourth overall pick, who was sidelined for “personal reasons.”

After a strong rookie season averaging 13.4 points on 45.6% shooting, Jackson’s performance declined this year, averaging just 7.3 points on 31.0% shooting over three games, amidst significant roster changes, including the addition of point guard Kelsey Plum. These changes fueled rumors on social media that Jackson might be pregnant, but she quickly dismissed them with humor, posting a playful photo on Twitter/X with the caption “#itsagirl,” jokingly portraying herself as pregnant. Jackson clarified that her social media “friend” status and such rumors shouldn’t be believed, adding that she’s more of a “rich aunt” than a mother.

Sparks coach Lynn Roberts confirmed Jackson’s importance to the team and said she is on personal leave with the squad’s full support, hoping for her return when she’s ready. Currently, the Sparks hold a 2-6 record with four days off before their next match.

Fan Take: This news highlights the challenges athletes face beyond the court, reminding fans of the human side of their favorite players. Jackson’s situation and the Sparks’ performance issues underscore the importance of support and resilience in building a competitive and inspiring WNBA team.
