Mike Trout quickly returned to his peak performance after missing a month with a left knee injury. On Monday night, Trout collected three hits, including a 454-foot home run—the longest at Fenway Park this season—leading the Angels to a 7-6 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Angels manager Ron Washington praised Trout, saying, “Anyone familiar with Mike Trout knows he can still do things many players cannot, and he consistently proves it.” Trout’s third-inning three-run homer, followed by two singles, showcased his full recovery. Although he grounded into a double play in the seventh inning, he felt no pain in his knee when attempting to break the relay.

Since returning from the injured list, Trout has improved his batting average from .179 to .225 and holds an overall record of 14-8 in games played. Monday’s game marked his second career home run at Fenway Park in 35 games. At 33, Trout credited the time off for helping him reset his swing, though he was limited to taking 30-40 swings per day while resting.

With Monday’s performance, Trout reached 1,675 hits, moving him to second place on the Angels’ franchise hits list behind Tim Salmon, with Garrett Anderson holding the record at 2,368. During the game, Zach Neto scored early, Trout’s three-run homer followed, and Jo Adell added another homer to the legendary Green Monster, making it 6-0. According to MLB.com, this marks the first time in Fenway Park’s 114-year history the visiting team hit three homers in the first inning.

Trout expressed amazement at the achievement, stating, “Setting a record in a stadium like this is truly special.”
