Davy Todd Reflects on Isle of Man TT Superstock Race 1: “Caught in a Wave of Traffic Chaos”

In the 2025 Man TT Island’s first Superstock race, Davie Todd secured second place after a “sloppy” second lap. Riding for 8ten Racing on a BMW, Todd briefly led by two seconds in the opening lap but was overtaken by Dean Harrison during the final lap and a half of the two-lap road race.

Todd described the conditions as unpredictable and mentioned that he encountered a lot of traffic on his second lap. “It was really tough,” he said in a post-race TV interview, adding that he was unsure about the conditions from the start. He acknowledged catching a lot of traffic but declined to use it as an excuse, praising Harrison’s strong performance despite some minor errors on the second lap. Todd admitted he pushed too hard in the short race, which led to a messy second lap.

Looking ahead to the second race, Todd said adjustments will be made to the bike. Although both Superstock and Superbike races use Superstock Spec machines with Superbike Spec engines, he noted the bike in Superstock Race 1 felt different from the one that won the Monday Superbike TT. “There’s work to do on the bike,” he remarked, explaining their plan involves having two ‘Superstock Bikes’ competing in the Superbike class. They aim to fine-tune the electronics and other aspects to improve performance for the next race. “We’re optimistic about gaining more speed in race two,” Todd concluded.

Fan Take: This update highlights the intense competition and unpredictability inherent in road racing, which keeps fans on the edge of their seats. Todd’s candid reflection and commitment to improvement signal exciting developments ahead, promising even fiercer battles and technological advancements in future races.
