Michael Dunlop Highlights “Neurological” Breakthroughs from the Leading Human Island

Michael Dunlop delivered a commanding performance in the Super Sports Race 2 at the Isle of Man TT, despite experiencing a brief “neurological” moment. Riding the MD Racing Ducati, Dunlop quickly took control, finishing more than 20 seconds ahead of Honda’s Dean Harrison to claim his second Supersport Race of the Week victory and his fourth consecutive clean sweep in the TT’s middleweight solo category.

Reflecting on the race in a post-race TV interview, Dunlop said, “It wasn’t too bad. I knew Dean Harrison would start strong, so I focused on my own race from the beginning.” He added, “Being in front early gave me a bit less to manage throughout.”

However, there was a hiccup during the second pit stop when Dunlop’s Ducati struggled to restart, allowing Harrison to close the gap by two seconds and then Davy Todd to pull ahead by four seconds. “The pit stop was a little nerve-wracking. The bike wouldn’t start at first,” Dunlop explained.

Thankfully, the bike performed flawlessly otherwise. He praised his team for their late-night efforts that ensured everything ran smoothly, expressing gratitude to both the crew and sponsors. “It’s fantastic for Ducati to reclaim the top spot and secure another double victory,” he remarked.

Dunlop did acknowledge a minor front-end issue but wasn’t certain if it was due to track conditions. “We had a bit of trouble up front, but we knew what to try,” he said. “Overall, we’re thrilled to deliver doubles for Ducati, my team, and everyone involved.”

Fan Take: Michael Dunlop’s continued dominance at the Isle of Man TT highlights his exceptional skill and the reliability of Ducati’s machinery. For racing enthusiasts, this performance not only raises the stakes for competitors but also showcases the thrilling blend of talent and technology driving the future of the sport.
