Manchester City has reached an agreement with Wolves for left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri, according to a source speaking to ESPN.

The Algerian international is expected to join the Etihad Stadium for a transfer fee of €40 million (approximately $45.7 million).

Aït-Nouri will conclude his national team commitments with Algeria, playing against Rwanda on Thursday, before undergoing a medical examination and finalizing his transfer.

The 23-year-old initially joined Wolves on loan from Angers in 2020 and has since made 157 appearances for the club, making him the second summer signing for City after midfielder Tijani Rayjander.

Both players will be part of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. City is set to travel to their training camp in Florida next week, gearing up for their first group match against Moroccan club Wydad AC in Philadelphia on June 18th.

The club is eager to finalize as many transfers as possible before heading to the U.S.

The team is also interested in Lyon forward Rayan Cherki, Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, and Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso.

Jack Grealish has been informed he won’t be part of the squad as he seeks a move away this summer, while Kyle Walker was not included despite returning from his loan at AC Milan.

Fan Take: This transfer news is significant as it highlights Manchester City’s ongoing commitment to strengthening their squad with young talent. Aït-Nouri’s arrival could greatly impact the team’s defensive capabilities and showcase the growing trend of top clubs investing in promising players, which is vital for the future of soccer.
