MotoGP Championship leader Marc Marquez has announced he plans to handle his “weaknesses” differently at the upcoming Aragon Grand Prix, following a crash he experienced last Sunday. While Ducati’s factory riders have dominated the first seven rounds of the 2025 season, leading the standings by 24 points, Marquez’s record shows a strong sprint performance with six wins out of seven, but inconsistency during the Sundays, where crashes at Cota and Jerez cost him victories. He nearly missed another podium finish due to a crash at the British Grand Prix before the race was red-flagged.

Marquez, who was anticipated to be a top contender at Aragon as he was with Ducati last year, admitted he is aware of his Sunday performance issues. “That’s my current weakness, and we’re working on it,” he said on Thursday when asked about his recent crash. “I’m going to try managing things differently. It’s easier said than done because mistakes during races can be costly, but these errors mainly happen on Sundays, which is our weak spot. Last Sunday, I was lucky, but if I want to compete for the championship, I must fix this. It was another error, so let’s hope to improve moving forward.”

Despite Ducati’s dominance, Marquez pointed out that no manufacturer is unbeatable. Following two consecutive defeats for Ducati—the first since 2022—he acknowledged that all leading manufacturers eventually face fiercer competition. He also mentioned that the races before Le Mans and Silverstone had unusual conditions. “Ducati is very strong, and I respect the competition,” he said. “Other manufacturers also have their concessions which balance the championship. Eventually, no team remains invincible. Our goal is to keep improving our bike to maintain competitive performance and win.”

Marquez said the Ducati bikes perform very well but noted that recent Sunday races were abnormal, particularly pointing out the choice of a medium front tire last Sunday as a factor. He described the races at Le Mans and Silverstone as unpredictable and emphasized that competition is fierce. “No one is invincible; sooner or later, there will be rivals as good or even better than Ducati. That’s the nature of the sport and why continuous improvement is crucial.”
