Ryan Branny: “I’m Just Waiting for Yellow” En Route to Nashville’s Triumph

Ryan Branny has secured his spot in the NASCAR Cup playoffs alongside his Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Austin Cindric, following a strong win in Nashville. This victory makes Branny the ninth driver to claim a postseason win, despite facing challenges this season, including five DNFs and missed opportunities for wins. After the race, Branny admitted he was bracing for a late yellow flag that never came, contrasting with last year’s five overtime restarts at the same event.

With Branny’s win, all three Penske cars have made the playoffs for a second consecutive year. Penske joins elite company with multi-car teams like Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports, who also have multiple race winners this season. Thanks to a close partnership, the Wood Brothers’ No. 21 Ford, which won at Las Vegas, is seen as an honorary part of Team Penske’s success.

Branny praised the team’s progress and unity throughout the season, noting how their strong winter preparation and improvements carried them through the year’s first dozen races. He highlighted the synchronization between drivers of cars #22, #2, and #21, giving them confidence as they head into the championship battles.

This era of the Next Gen car, introduced in 2022, continues to showcase Penske’s dominance, with the organization winning all three championships since the new cars debuted. Joey Logano took the title in 2022, Kyle Larson won in 2023, and now Branny is aiming to add to that streak in 2024.

Fan Take: This news is huge for NASCAR fans because it underscores Team Penske’s dominance and consistency as a powerhouse, making the playoffs more exciting and competitive. It also highlights the strength of the Next Gen era, promising thrilling races and a fierce battle for the championship as the sport continues to evolve.
