From 2024-25, the Houston Rockets finished 52-30. This is the second best record in the Western Conference. Despite being the second seed in the playoffs, Houston did not advance past the first round.

The Rockets lost to the Warriors in seven games. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Houston has several key players who will become free agents. That includes the big man Stephen Adams. Memphis traded him for the Rockets at the deadline of 2023-24. Athletics Kelly Iko reported that the Rockets were “prioritizing” Stephen Adams’ re-signing this offseason.

How many times will the Rockets re-sign Stephen Adams this offseason?

We desperately need a rocket to keep Stephen Adams this offseason.

Prior to the 2023-24 season, veteran big man Stephen Adams had to undergo surgery on his right knee. He missed the year and was traded for the Rockets during the season. Adams bouncing off 2024-25, playing 58 games of 82 games for the Rockets during the regular season. The 31-year-old had a major impact on Udoka in the postseason. Adams played in all seven games for Rocket, increasing his production.

Adams went 22.1 in the playoffs from 13.7 minutes per game in the regular season. Additionally, the 2025 postseason saw promotions in points and rebounds per game. His offensive rebound helped the Rockets force seven games against the Warriors. The Rockets were able to use a double big lineup featuring Alperen Senggan and Stephen Adams.

Athletics Kelly Iko reported that the Rockets are prioritizing Stephen Adams’ re-signing this offseason. He has just finished a second season of a two-year, $25.2 million deal. The 2025-26 season will be Adams’ 12th in the NBA, and Houston will continue to speak with his agents. If the Rockets fail to re-sign Adams, they are keeping an eye on Brook Lopez, an unlimited free agent this offseason. Lopez is a player the Rockets have tried to acquire in the past. The Rockets hope to have depth at center next season.
