Quarterback Rogers Secures One-Year, $13.65 Million Contract with Steelers, Sources Say

Pittsburgh – Aaron Rodgers is now officially part of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The highly anticipated quarterback signed a one-year contract worth $13.65 million after successfully passing a physical at the team’s facility on Saturday morning, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The deal guarantees $10 million and could total up to $19.5 million with incentives. This aligns with what Rodgers shared in an offseason interview on the “Pat McCuffy Show,” where he mentioned he was willing to play for $10 million.

At 41 years old, Rodgers arrived at the training facility just after 8 a.m. following contract discussions, with Steelers general manager Omar Khan welcoming him at the door. Rodgers is set to participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp starting Tuesday.

Earlier in March, Rodgers held a private workout session in California alongside the Steelers’ new wide receiver DK Metcalf, who was traded from the Seahawks right before free agency. This new deal sets up an exciting showdown between Rodgers and his former team, the New York Jets, whom he was released by in March. Rodgers had a contentious meeting with Jets coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Moosey before his release.

Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023 after an 18-season tenure with the Green Bay Packers, where he won a Super Bowl following the 2010 season. Despite starting all games last season, his performance was inconsistent—completing 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns but also throwing 11 interceptions and receiving a lower QBR ranking.

Following the announcement, the betting odds shifted in favor of the Steelers. Their chances of winning the AFC North improved from +550 to +500 at ESPN BET, and their playoff odds increased slightly from +150 to +140. They also became a three-point favorite over the Jets in the season opener, up from a 2.5-point favorite before the Rodgers signing.

Fan Take: Aaron Rodgers joining the Steelers is a game-changer for the NFL, bringing veteran leadership and star power to a historic franchise. This move not only reshapes the AFC landscape but also promises thrilling matchups and storylines that fans will eagerly follow this season.
