Boston Legacy FC Unveils New Brand

Boston’s Legacy FC has revealed its new team logo and branding as it prepares to join the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as the league’s 15th club. They will compete alongside the Denver NWSL in the 2026 regular season.

The club initially teased its branding in October 2024, but faced backlash, prompting a rebranding to Boston Legacy FC. On Saturday, the new emblem, colors, and branding were officially unveiled. "This crest symbolizes a significant step in establishing a new sports legacy in Boston," stated Jennifer Epstein, Heritage FC Control Manager. She described the swans in the emblem as embodying values of integrity, grit, and style, representing a loyal defense of their territory, while also being elegant inhabitants of the city’s waterways and green spaces. This artwork aims to evoke a sense of pride among fans and players as they look forward to their debut at Gillette Stadium in 2026.

Designed by graphic artist Matthew Wolf over five months, the badge showcases a swan and is inspired by the original eight NWSL teams, including the defunct Boston Breakers, which ceased operations before the 2018 season. The angel wings in the logo are intended to represent the Zakim Bridge in Boston.

Currently, the club is renovating White Stadium but will play its inaugural season at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, marking the first time a women’s professional soccer team has played in an NFL facility. They plan to transition to White Stadium in 2027.

Fan Take: This rebranding is a beacon of hope for women’s soccer in Boston, symbolizing a fresh start after the departure of the Boston Breakers. As Legacy FC steps into a new chapter, the enthusiasm surrounding this team could increase support for women’s soccer, highlighting its growing prominence in the sports world.
