Manchester City has finalized the signing of left-back Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers, as confirmed by the club on Monday.

Aït-Nouri was allowed to leave his Algeria international commitments to undergo a medical and finalize his transfer.

He has joined City for a fee of €37 million ($42.2 million), according to an ESPN source. The club is also expected to complete a deal for Tijani Rayjans, who had his medical on Sunday.

Aït-Nouri has recorded nine goals and 15 assists in 135 appearances in the Premier League.

At 23, he will be Manchester City’s first dedicated left-back since Benjamin Mendy’s departure in June 2023.

“I am thrilled and honored to join Manchester City,” Ait Nouri stated. “This club is among the biggest in the world, and this opportunity feels like a dream come true.”

“I’m excited to work with Pep and his coaching team, to learn and train with such a talented group of players,” he added. “I can’t wait to get started and play for our fans.”

City will kick off their Club World Cup campaign against Moroccan team Widad AC in Philadelphia on June 18, before facing Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates and Juventus.

Aït-Nouri will be eligible to participate in the US tournaments.

The club has also reviewed their release list, which includes goalkeeper Scott Carson. Despite playing only 108 minutes in six years at City, Carson has still secured 11 trophies during his time with the team.

Fan Take: The arrival of Rayan Aït-Nouri is significant for Manchester City as it strengthens their defensive lineup and brings a fresh talent to the squad. This signing not only enhances the team’s prospects in domestics and international competitions but also reflects the growing trend of clubs investing in young, skilled players to secure long-term success in soccer.
