Keyshawn Davis Spirals into Dispute Following Brother’s Tragic Passing

What was expected to be a joyful homecoming for Keyshawn Davis and his brothers—welterweight Keson and junior welterweight Kelvin—turned into a chaotic and troubling night at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The situation escalated Saturday when Nahill Albright upset Kelvin in the co-main event, leading to a heated backstage confrontation involving Keyshawn, Keson, and Albright.

This tense weekend for the Davis family started poorly when Keyshawn missed weight, resulting in the loss of his WBO lightweight title and the cancellation of his main event bout against Edwin Delos Santos. Keson managed to secure a knockout win, but Kelvin fell to Albright.

In a video captured of the incident, Albright claimed he was suddenly attacked by Keyshawn and Keson after his victory over Kelvin. He showed visible swelling near his right eye and described the encounter in an interview with ESPN’s Mark Kriegel as aggressive and chaotic, saying, “They started walking all my toughest, put their heads into mine, then grabbed me. Then I was about to swing, but my team intervened. It was crazy.” Albright alleged that Keyshawn slammed him into a hard surface during the altercation and mentioned that he and his team are considering legal action.

Kelvin Davis issued an apology on social media, denying that any of the brothers “jumped” anybody, and expressed regret over the heightened emotions, promising to set a better example in the future.

The friction between Albright and Keyshawn dates back to their 2023 bout, which Keyshawn initially won by unanimous decision, but the result was overturned to a no-contest after Keyshawn tested positive for marijuana. Reflecting on recent events, Albright told Kriegel, “It’s a shame we’ve added fuel to the flame. Keyshawn, you have to settle it with me—not outside the ring, but inside it.”

Fan Take: This incident underscores the intense emotions and rivalries that fuel combat sports but also highlights the importance of professionalism beyond the ring. For fight fans, it signals potential future clashes inside the squared circle while serving as a reminder that respect must remain paramount to maintain the sport’s integrity.
