Leeds United have been promoted to the Premier League and are looking to improve their team during the summer transfer period.

They could also drive their fringe players away. Previously, we covered reports that players like Darko Gyabi, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt are likely to be sold during the summer window.

It is clear that the free players are not an important part of their plans, so it would make sense for Leeds to sell them and raise some money from the departure. They need to bring in quality players and selling some of their deadwood will help balance the book.

Leeds needs to be ruthless

Dampuramley, a football finance expert, said in Mot Leeds News:

“And if you’re going to take players, you have to shift players. And you can see it as a ruthless way to do business, but you can get a decent amount for those players, and if it’s two or three, it’s going to be £10-15 million in no time.

“That will have an impact after that. I think it will ultimately come down to the teams they are trying to create in the Premier League. This season, it’s not like that with the three of them who have come up and come straight back.”

Gyabi, Greenwood and Gelhardt are young players who need to play regularly. Leeds cannot offer him the opportunity. It makes sense for players to move on. They have a brighter future than they do. They should try to join a club that gets enough first team action.

All three players spent last season off Leeds on loan. They try to join a club where they become important members of the starting lineup so that they can focus on football again. It is still unknown if they will end.
