According to Muy Cai (via Nexofin), West Ham United has made great strides in their efforts to sign up for highly rated Argentinian defender Kevin Lomonaco from club Atletico Independiente.

The Premier League is reportedly willing to meet the $20 million (17.5 million euros) release clause.

According to local outlet Muy Cai, which covers developments surrounding the independent, Hammer has shown great interest in the 23-year-old centre-back and has already sent representatives to Buenos Aires to accelerate negotiations.

The first debate is already taking place between West Ham and Romonaco’s aides about personal terminology.

The consultation is currently accepting sales, but is progressing directly with Independiente only under strict financial conditions.

Daniel Soan, the Independent General Secretary, was clear about the club’s attitude when talking to Argentine outlet Ole.

He made it clear that despite growing interest in players, the club is not planning to sell anything below the release clause.

“These players cannot remain less than the buyout clause,” Seoane said.

“They are part of the team’s backbone, and what we discussed with the coaches isn’t about dismantling it. Obviously, if they exercise the clause, we have to accept it, but that’s what improved the Loyola and Romonaco contract.”

Kevin Romonaco from West Ham United?

Romonaco himself worked on speculations that linked him to the move to Mexico and dismissed those rumors as unfounded.

“From Mexico? Who said it? I don’t know anything, but there’s a lot being said… Today the truth is stuck here.”

Personal terms reportedly have been closed and club negotiations are heating up so the move can be confirmed in the coming weeks if the hammer decides to formally trigger the clause.

West Ham has been told to sign Harvey Elliot of Liverpool this summer.
