The 2024-25 season was PJ Tucker’s 14th year in the NBA. He began his season with the Clippers after winning a $11.54 million player option.

During the season, Tucker reached an agreement to leave the team, but his agents tried to find a deal. After a series of transactions, PJ Tucker signed a 10-day deal with the Knicks on March 10th, and again on March 20th. Ultimately, the team signed Tucker to a standard contract. On Wednesday, the 40-year-old had to go to social media to announce that he had not retired.

On the second pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors chose PJ Tucker from Texas. The veteran forward played in eight franchises over 14 professional seasons in the NBA. Additionally, Tucker played five seasons overseas for Israel, Ukraine, Greece, Italy and Germany. To begin the 2024-25 season, Tucker was a member of the LA Clippers. After being unhappy with his role, Tucker and his agents wanted to launch trade.

They recited their wishes on February 1st, when Tucker was part of a four-team contract and landed on the Jazz. Just a few days later, Tucker was involved in the five-team trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors. PJ Tucker landed alongside the Raptors before abandoning him at the end of February. On March 10th, Tucker signed a 10-day contract with the Knicks. He signed another 10-day contract on March 20th.

Ultimately, Tucker signed a standard NBA contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. The veteran forward played in three regular season games for the Knicks, making one start. New York holds Tucker’s $3.5 million player options that must be exercised by June 29th. On Wednesday, Tucker went to social media and criticized “unclear sources” who said he was retiring. “I’m 40 years old and I’m still 100% healthy, capable and I’ll continue to play the game I’ve dedicated to my life,” Tucker said.
