    • Round 3- Saturday, June 14th

The third major championship of the 2025 golf season is underway, with the two best players in the game already winning the most notable titles. USGA has loaded up a competing premier event with almost every golfer in the world, as the US Open features 156 competitors hoping to compete in 72 holes at the 2025 US Open for the 10th Oakmont Country Club.

Half of the field is already in the clubhouse on Thursday. Spaun shot four unders in his first nine and became a bogey-free in his first 18 holes above the leaderboard. There were few numbers on Thursday, but no capital letters were included for example Rory McIlroy or Bryson Deccanbaugh. The tournament was opened in PAR just to be ejected on the second nine, and finished eight and seven spots on Spaun, respectively.

Scottie Scheffler joined this US Open on the odds board as a favorite of 11/4, according to BetMgm. Despite being won to open a season, the real-life PGA champion claimed three of the last four tournaments he started. He is currently looking for the third leg of his career grand slam. Two green jackets and a Wannamaker trophy are already in his possession. Schefler has begun opening in the US Most important favorites from the major championship since Tiger Woods As his prime and model of consistency, all he has to do is to get quality numbers across 72 holes in the mix coming Sunday.

We should also look at things like John Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Zander Schaufele and Morikawa’s Colin. Regarding your favorite person, Oakmont acts as a litmus test On whether the underdogs can still compete in such a championship.

As far as legend goes, Tiger Woods remains on the sidelines while recovering from an unexpected operation, while Phil Mickelson appears to be making his 11th final run in a career grand slam. Mickelson finished his second in the US and a staggering six (1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2013), a tough long shot at Oakmont, but something strange happened in golf.

While it’s a lot of fun to attend the US Open, it’s an incredible treat every year to be able to watch golf on the most epic stage of the game. We at CBS Sports are excited to bring wall-to-wall coverage in the US, which opened all week.
