Bayern Munich director Max Eval admitted that he was disappointed that he missed Florian Wiltz’s signature, but helped him to show how good he was in Liverpool.
Bayer Leberkusen, who attacks the midfielder, has yet to be officially confirmed as Liverpool’s new signature, but Ebal quoted earlier this week cited Fabrizio Romano’s “go here” to the Wirtz deal.
Wirtz showed that during his time at Bundesliga he was named Germany’s top flight season player in 2023/24, winning the team for the season three times.
Eberl certainly could have done it by bringing such a world-class player to Bayern. It’s clear he knows the top signature he missed.

“I think it’s ‘shit’ at first, but when one door closes, another opens,” Ebal said. “You’ll reset and prepare for the future again.
“Florian will make his mark for Liverpool. He is an exceptional player and there is no doubt about that.”
Florian Wirtz is Liverpool’s record signature
Wirtz is currently signed by Liverpool Club Records. Romano previously reported that the transaction includes add-ons and costs a total of 150 million euros…
player | Transfer fee |
Florian Wirtz | 150 million euros |
Darwin Nunes | 85 million euros |
Virgil Van Dijk | €84.65m |
Dominique | 70 million euros |
Allison Becker | €62.5m |
(Fees via the relocation market)
This is a big investment by the LFC, who have apparently wanted to do even better next season after winning the Premier League title in 2024/25.
The Reds were ultimately a comfortable league winner, but perhaps better in the Champions League, but lost to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
Signatures like Wirtz can take them to a completely different level if they play the way he did for Leverkusen.
