Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup and competed in the Champions League last season. And they’ll be aiming to get even higher under Eddie Howe’s wing next year.

To do this, you will need to hit the mark in the summer transfer window, which will officially open next Monday. Brian Mbemo is involved in the fight between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, which unfortunately has to be given to St James Park, but Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga is locked into the radar of Howe.

However, speedy Elangas have been valued at over £55 million by tricky trees, and Magpies may want to cut their interests considering the recent availability of the perfect alternative in the transfer market.

Newcastle enters the PL Star race

As broadcast by catch-offside, Newcastle took part in the race for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. Jadon Sancho will not sign Chelsea in a permanent deal after Bruce pays a £5 million penalty to cut off his obligation to purchase clauses worth £25 million.

The 25-year-old played his role for Chelsea last season, but Enzo Maresca ultimately wanted to look in a different direction this summer, but that doesn’t mean Sancho isn’t keen on suitors, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur either.

There’s no way back for the winger in the Red Devils costume of Reuben Amorim. So, if Newcastle wants to move forward, they may find negotiations to be relatively smooth sailing.

Why Newcastle Wants to Jadon Sancho

Certainly, it wasn’t the worst season in the world for England International. In 42 matches in all competitions, Sancho scored only five goals, but earned 10 assists.

In the Premier League, Sancho may only have started 19 games, but according to his sofa score, he clinched seven direct target contributions, averaged 1.5 dribbling and 1.2 key passes per game.

And if further evidence of his qualities were needed, the Silky Winger ended the 2024/25 campaign, which was ranked in the top 10% of European top five league position peers, top 13% of progressive carry and top 16% of take-ons per 90 per FBREF for pass completion.

A successful take-on is recorded when the player defeats the opponent while bringing the ball directly into the possession.

In the right environment, under the guidance of the right manager, Sancho proves himself to be one of the most dangerous wide guys in football.

Certainly, his peak Sancho has surpassed every version of the Nuno Espirito Santo’s system advancements outweigh any version of Elanga, but perhaps the underlying data doesn’t support him, and averages only 0.7 dribbling per 2024/25 Premier League game (takes 39%).

His two feet add another layer to the argument that he is a better option than Elanga, and Hau is known to enjoy shuffling his forwards in different positions, even giving Alexander Isaac a touching left flank.

Data from the Transfer Market

Arrived in the Premier League as a £73 million signature for Manchester United, Sancho undoubtedly struggled, but he was incredible when he took Borussia Dortmund and art and impressed the country and the largest European stage.

Even in low decline over the past 12 months (not his lowest), Sancho has shown quality in the range of glow. At £25 million, this certainly represents a better deal than Elanga, who nearly matched the Chelsea guy in numbers, scored six goals and supported 12 games over 43 games.

Given that Forest may be looking for a £50 million north bank in Elanga this summer, it makes more sense to invest in Sancho. Sancho finds his former foothold on Tyneside and works under the guidance of Hau, and finally realizes the possibility that former talent scout Jace Krigg led him as “Phenomenon.”
