Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott was turned over by former West Ham player Stuart Pierce to leave Anfield this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder once was almost automatically present in the starting lineup, which significantly reduced his role in Arne Slot last season.

Despite making 28 appearances in all competitions, he only started six games.

Elliott openly states that he doesn’t want to waste a significant year on the bystanders, which means he is linked to his move from Premier League champions.

More new players will arrive in Liverpool this summer, with Florian Wiltz’s imminent arrival, particularly Elliott moving further down the order of the pecking order.

When appearing on Talksport Breakfast, football legend Stuart Pearce joined a segment called “Transfer Tinder” and was asked to swipe left or right in the proposed series of transfers.

He said:

“For me, it’s both counts every day.

“Players need to play. When (Jurgen) Klopp left, he said: “I should have played Harvey Elliott a little more.” That was one of the statements he made.

“He identified his talent and identified him not playing him well, and he hasn’t played again this year.

“I think that’s a good move for both parties. It’s right.”

Slot may view Elliot as a surplus of requirements, rather than as a basis for his long-term midfield accumulation.

The Premier League Giants are reportedly ready to let the midfielder leave the club this summer alongside Wolves, Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth.

Slot’s side is expected to demand fees in the £40 million and £50 million region of the younger midfielder.

With Liverpool shaping an ambitious new midfield core and Wiltz’s arrival looms, Elliott’s game time under serious threat.

Moves from Anfield to clubs like West Ham United allow players to stay in the Premier League and continue developing.

Along with Elliot, Andy Robertson was also able to leave the club due to the growing interest of Atletico Madrid.
