‘S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands – Belgian tennis player Elise Mertens saved 11 points before reaching the Libema Open final on Saturday to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The WTA said this is the most match point saved in the women’s matches in the main draw of the last decade.

After dodging repeated defeats, 20th place Mertens scored 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4 on the grass court.

“After losing one or two counts, I didn’t know it was 11,” said third seed Mertens. “I was very focused on the game. Of course I like it and I just keep going.”

Mertens will face Romanian qualifiers Elena Gabriella and Reuse in the final.
