LONDON – British wildcard Dan Evans disrupt the world’s 13th Francistier for 7-5, 6-2 on Monday for his first victory at the Queens Club since 2021.

Backhand slices and quick pure reflection supported Evans’ second victory in the top 20 grass of 199 No. 199. The first was held at Wimbledon in 2019.

“I still believe I have that tennis inside me, so I believe I can do good in the top 100. “I know how you think. Today I have shown that I still have a little bit left.”

Other first-round winners included fourth seed Holgar Rune and eighth seed Jakubumensik in Queen’s debut. The 19-year-old Czech hit 20 aces by beating former finalist Cameron Norry 7-6 (6), 1-6 and 6-1.

Mensic is next faced with Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agutt. Spain’s Nuno Borge’s comeback winner in a three-set, Rune lined up with Mackenzie MacDonald of the US, who expelled French Fallet Monfils.

The top two species are Wimbledon and French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz, who won Stuttgart in his fourth title in Grass on Sunday.
