Canadian Grampurin will remain on the Formula 1 calendar for the next decade after signing a new contract by 2035.

The existing agreement was scheduled to expire in 2031, but following the race date movements from 2026 onwards, it will shift the Canadian Grand Prix to late May to allow cargo to travel between Miami and Montreal without returning to Europe. The four-year extension will keep the race at Circuit Gills Villeneuve, where he has been heavily invested in facilities in recent years.

Montreal Circuit has been home to the race since 1978, with seven records for both Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, and this year George Russell joined Max Barstappen and Fernando Alonso as active winners on the grid.

Promoter Octane Racing Group will continue to invest in the venue following the new contract after a weekend that attracted 352,000 attendance for this year’s race.

“As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th anniversary, it is fitting that we have such an incredible history in our sport and announce an expansion with the Canadian Grand Prix, named after the true legend of Gilles Villeneuve.”

“Montreal is an incredible city and is full of energy and passionate fans. We are pleased to see that we will continue to race here until the 2035 season and that the media rights deal with Bell Media has also expanded in the long term.

“We would like to thank Octane Racing Group, promoters for their continued efforts to upgrade this iconic venue in recent years, and to all local, regional and national political stakeholders who have worked closely together to make this event the event today.

A joint statement from local government figures said the update is an indication of a broad commitment to working together to further advance Canada’s Grand Prix.

“We are proud to renew this important multi-stakeholder partnership with the Formula One World Championship (FOWC),” the statement read. “The Canadian Grand Prix is not only the largest event in the country, but also one of the most highly regarded in the world. It will liven up and shine our city in the international scene, bringing great economic benefits to Canadian businesses and citizens.

“This announcement is a concrete representation of our common commitment to further develop Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix and ensuring its unparalleled success for years to come.”
