French Open 2025: Coco Gauff forgets Racket, but still wins in the first round

Coco Gauff’s 2025 French Open has gotten off to a rocky start. Gouf comes into trouble before it begins when she forgets to bring the racket out onto her court.

As Goff was preparing to face Olivia Gadecki in the first round, she realized something important was missing from the bag of equipment. The moment was captured on video, showing Gauff digging her bag and then shrugging her shoulder twice after realizing she had no racket.

Gauff and Gadecki shared smiles, while Gauff explains the situation to the other person.

The racket was eventually delivered to the court’s Gouf. It was a clumsy start for Gauff, but she was able to quickly put her behind her. Once the match began, Goff was able to lock in, passing the Gadeck 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the event.

This was a predictable victory for Gouf, who entered the 2025 French Open as the second-placed female player. Only Aryna Sabalenka is ranked highly on the female side. Given the seeds, the two can only meet in the finals at the 2025 French Open.

The victory pushes Goff into the second round, where she faces Teleza Valentois.

Coco Gauff teased Frances Tiafoe with Racket Mishap

The racket accident had no effect on Gouf, but she will probably hear about it from one other US tennis star. Francis Tiafour’s exact same thing happened to him in March, and Gouf teased him about the incident.

Gauff accused Tiafoe’s coach David Witt of stuffing Tiafoe’s bags, but Gauff told Tiafoe, “Francis is always behind everything and forgets a lot.

As Gauff said in that interview, coaches usually pack bags of equipment before a game. So, although it was probably not Goff’s fault, she didn’t have her racket on Tuesday, but she wouldn’t be getting off on Scott’s free completely.

When Tiafoe forgot his racket, Gauff made the unfortunate comment that he’ll come back to annoy her after Tuesday’s accident, according to Sports Illustrated.

“When asked if she would check her bag, Goff replied, “I can say it by weight. He could have said it by weight. Yeah, I don’t know. He’s Francis too, and probably didn’t think about it.” ”

Oops. Gauff may need additional practice to readjust her ability to determine the weight of her equipment bag.

That’s the only thing Gauff needs to work on following Tuesday’s dominant performance. Well, and an apology to Tierfoe. He came out of all this proven after the same exact thing that happened to Goff.
