  • Aston Villa failed to make the most of Buendia
  • The move to Leeds could bring back Beundia’s career

Aston Villa appears to be increasingly open to ways to part ways by attacking midfielder Emi Buendia. Leeds United has emerged as a leading candidate to secure service for the 28-year-old this summer.

Villainsider suggests that the Midlands Club may attempt to bring fees closer to £30 million in response to interest and competition, but bids in the £20 million region are welcome.

Buendia first joined Norwich City’s Villa in June 2021 with club record fees.

Aston Villa failed to make the most of Buendia

In more than 99 appearances for the Villans, he registered 10 goals and nine assists, but his impact faded with a major knee injury. The August 2023 ACL rupture ruled out him throughout the 2023-24 campaign.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he was impressed.

His future at Villa Park is currently uncertain as the player is not in the plans of Unai Emery, manager for the future.

Villanews spoke to Martin Allen about the future of Buendia, he said:

“Needless to say, Villa needs to withdraw the maximum fee from him, as does any deal.

“He was doing well, so they have to give it a try.

“I think if they get £20 million for him they’ll be really happy, but they’re going to try and push towards £30 million.

“It’s extremely difficult to score a goal in the Premier League, so it’s definitely going to be a good signing for Leeds.

“We need to get a chance for a player who can get 10 goals. This is a big jump from the championship, as we saw. I think it’s going to be a good move for Leeds.”

The move to Leeds United could work for a former Norwich man who could play in the Premier League and get the opportunity to prove himself.

Buendia’s potential transfer represents Leeds’ smart signature, bringing experience, quality and creativity to the team.

The move appears to be mutually beneficial, but timing, competitive offers and contractual terms will determine whether Buendia will make a leap this summer.
