Novak Jjokovic won his 100th career single title after beating Hubert Hurkacz (2), 7-6 (2) to win the Geneva Open on Saturday.

Around the 3 hours came two days after the Serbian star’s 38th birthday. He also achieved incredible feats in front of his family and relatives.

“I’m grateful to clinch 100 here,” Djokovic said. “I had to work for it, that’s certainly true.”

Hurkacz kept the game closed before missing three forehands and allowing Djokovic match points. Djokovic hit an ace to solidify his 100th title with victory. After an emotional celebration, Djokovic praised his opponent and told him how tough the match was.

“Hubert was probably closer to winning the whole game than I did,” Djokovic said. “I was just trying to hang out there.

“I don’t know how he beat his serve. He broke himself when he was probably 4-3. But this is what happens at this level, and it’s at the highest level.”

His victory placed Djokovic between fellow tennis legends Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer, who have singles titles of 109 and 103 respectively. The trio is the only player to have at least 100 single titles in its open era.

The feat wasn’t easy as Djokovic lost his final two finals since winning his 99th title at the Parisio Philosophy. Djokovic, who won his first title in 2006, is the first open error player to win titles in 20 different seasons.

With the French Open Set starting this weekend, Djokovic is aiming for his 25th Grand Slam title. He will face American Mackenzie McDonald on Monday.
