NOTINGHAM – Dayana Yastremska says she is allergic to grass but has become the first Ukrainian to reach the WTA Tour final on the surface for 17 years after losing Poland’s Magda Lynette 6-4, 6-4 at the Nottingham Open on Saturday.

Yasutermska seeks her first WTA title since 2019, playing against American McCartney Kessler on Sunday in 2019.

“I love playing with the grass despite the fact that I think I’m a bit allergic to the grass,” she said.

“I was very excited and proud of myself. Everything was fine in general. I can’t wait to play in the final tomorrow, and I’m not going to play at 11am at last.

Kessler, who only recorded her first career grass court victory last week, beat Rebecca Slamkova 6-4 6-2.
