Norway’s Viktor Hovland was forced to withdraw on Sunday in the final round of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Hovland, 27, looked in pain on the opening tee shot in the final round, but he made a par in the first hole. He bogeyed the second hole before leaving the course at TPC River Highlands.

The seven-time PGA Tour winner shot a 7-under 63 on Saturday and took the run with a top-10 finish in the PGA Tour final signature event. Hofland, number 9 in the official world golf rankings, opened at 4-under 66 and then rebounded on Saturday with a 5-O0ver 75.

Hovland finished third in the US Open last week, earning four top 25 finishes in his final six starts. He tries to recover in time to compete in the open in four weeks.

Hofland was not the only player to withdraw Sunday. Eric Cole ended due to illness before the final round.

Cole, 37, took a card with 68, 67 and 69 and was filmed with a 6-under par 204 tied up to 14th place after three rounds.

Cole, who was hoping for his first victory on the PGA Tour, ranked 77th in the official world golf rankings.
