AKON, Ohio — Miguel Angel Gimenez won the Cowrig Company Championship on Sunday in his fourth PGA Tour Champions victory in the season, forcing the playoffs and defeated Stephen Alker with a 20-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole.

After his partner Alkar birded in par 5 16th, followed by a two-stroke down, Jimenez made a 10-foot birdie putt in par 4 17th and 18 feet on par 4 18th.

Zimenez, 61, and Alker, 53, were tied to a lead entering the round at Firestone South, shooting 2-under 68 each, finishing 10-under 270 in the major championship.

They each interpreted the 18th on the first playoff hole, with Jimenez missing an 18-foot birdie try and holled 3 1/2 footer and sent back to the tee for the second extra hole.

Before Jimenez’s victory putt, Alkar missed a 20-foot birdie try after a recovery shot from the tree on the right of the fairway.

Jimenez won his third major title after winning the Regional Tradition and Senior British Open in 2018, and won the spot of next year in the Player Championship at TPC Sawgrass. The Spanish star has 17 career victories on tours for those over 50.

Jimenez beat Alkar in two strokes in the Trophy Hassan II in Morocco in February, won the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach, California in March, and the Principal Charity Classic in the playoffs in Des Moines, Iowa three weeks ago.

Stewart Sink was 66 years old and ranked third for under 8 years old. Steve Fresh had another stroke after 65 years old.
