Brooks Koepka is meltdown before suddenly withdrawing from the Liv Golf event

Brooks Koepka made a meltdown before suddenly appearing on Athlon Sports from the Liv Golf event.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club deployed several states at Liv Golf Dallas while Andrew Putnam, Philip Knowles and Chris Kirk competed at the top. Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka stole the headlines not due to the glow of the course, but due to an explosive meltdown that ended with an unexpected withdrawal.

Koepka, the representative of Smash GC, had already had a nightmare round at the Maridoe Golf Club. After applying triple bogeys on both the fifth and seventh holes, he stood on a six-over par on the front nine.

But it was the ninth hole that he literally saw the snap. Following the incorrect drive, annoyed Koepka slammed the club into the ground, crushing the tee markers, and flew off towards the audience. Luckily, no one was injured.

Brookskoepka will play shots from the first tee in the third round of the US Open Golf Tournament.

Things didn’t get better. He bogeyed the 10th and 13th holes before officially retreating to the 14th, citing the illness. Liv later confirmed that he could still come back over the weekend to contribute to the team’s score, but Koepka’s individual runs were probably over.

It was a frustrating season for a 35-year-old. Koepka missed cuts in both the Masters and the PGA Championship and has not recorded a top-10 finish in the majors since 2021.

The Koepka explosions were not the only thing we saw this week. On the PGA Tour side, Stephan Jaeger went “Happy Gilmore” completely to “Happy Gilmore” and defeated three clubs with frustration in the early rounds of the Rocket Classic.

With both events heading into the weekend, Koepka’s meltdown is a strict reminder of how cruel the game is, even the best in the world.
