The European heavyweights made their presence felt at the Club World Cup.

Manchester City displayed their dominance throughout Group G, overwhelming Juventus with a 5-2 victory. They finished the group stage with a flawless record of three wins, netting 13 goals and raising no doubts about their capability. Despite the heavy loss, Juventus progressed after victories against Al Ain and Wydad. Real Madrid also secured a convincing win in their group, defeating Salzburg and seeing Al Giral score early while keeping Pachuca from finding the net, thereby securing the second position in Group H.

Results from the Club World Cup on Thursday

Juventus 2, Manchester City 5

The former Premier League champions dominated Italian giants Juventus. Jérémy Doku started the scoring in the 9th minute, but Juventus equalized swiftly with a goal from Teun Koopmeiners. After Pierre Carle inadvertently scored for City in the 26th minute, they led 2-1 at halftime. In the second half, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden added to the tally with goals in the 52nd and 69th minutes. Savinho capped off the scoring 15 minutes from the end, ensuring City topped Group G, even with Juventus finding the net in the 84th minute. As Group G winners, City will now face Al Hilal in Orlando on Monday.

Wydad AC 1, Al Ain 2

Wydad struck first with a goal from Cassius Maillulu in just four minutes, but Al Ain ultimately triumphed, escaping the bottom of Group G. Even with a close scoreline, possession was nearly even as both teams fought hard.

Al Hilal 2, Pachuca 0

Pachuca’s dreams for a notable performance at the Club World Cup were dashed within just 22 minutes of their final group match against Al Hilal. Salem Al-Dawsari netted a goal with a lovely header from a well-placed assist by Nasser Al Dawsari, putting Al Hilal ahead. They doubled their lead right before stoppage time through Marcos Leonardo, effectively shutting down the Mexican team’s defense in the second half.

FC Red Bull Salzburg 0, Real Madrid 3

Real Madrid easily secured their place in Group H by defeating RB Salzburg, scoring two goals in the first half. Jude Bellingham provided an exquisite assist to Vinicius Jr. to open the scoring, and soon after, he struck again, setting up Gonzalo Garcia for the third goal in the 84th minute. Madrid will meet Juventus in the knockout round in Miami on Tuesday.
