Logan Paul expressed criticism towards his brother Jake Paul’s opponent after a 10-round fight on Saturday night. Jake Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who mounted a late challenge but couldn’t turn the tide. From the start, the Anaheim crowd showed strong support for the Mexican fighter. However, much of the match lacked excitement, and Chavez Jr. conceded that he started pushing too late to win. This didn’t trouble Paul, as Jake is now setting his sights on a world championship bout next.

Although Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. held a world title earlier in his career, he has faced significant criticism recently. At 39 years old, he was not fully engaged throughout the fight. Statistics from Compubox reveal Chavez Jr. averaged 15 punches thrown and six landed per round, while Jake Paul threw 48 punches and landed 14 per round. Logan Paul commented on these details in a behind-the-scenes interview with DAZN, praising his brother’s performance but criticizing Chavez Jr.’s defensive approach, which led to a one-sided scorecard.

Jake Paul is now eyeing a showdown with cruiserweight world champion Zurdo Ramirez, who recently defended his WBA and WBO titles by beating Uniel Dorticos. Ramirez dismissed Paul’s ambitions, suggesting the YouTuber-turned-boxer wouldn’t succeed in his division. Paul fired back, stating Ramirez is just one champion, and he intends to claim all the belts in the cruiserweight category, including those held by athletes like Badow Jack and Jai Opetaire.

At the post-fight press conference, Jake Paul also mentioned the potential for a major bout against Anthony Joshua, possibly happening in 2026.

Fan Take: This fight and its fallout highlight Jake Paul’s rising ambitions beyond novelty bouts, signaling his serious pursuit of legitimacy in professional boxing. For fight fans, it means an intriguing new chapter where crossover stars might challenge traditional champions, potentially shaking up the sport’s landscape.
