On Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Jake Paul emerged victorious over Giulio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a 10-round cruiserweight bout broadcasted on DAZN PPV. The judges scored the fight 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92 in favor of Paul.

Jake Paul, now with a record of 12-1 and 7 KOs, has bounced back with six consecutive wins since his split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023. His recent victories include a unanimous decision over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson before defeating Chavez in November.

Giulio Cesar Chavez Jr., holding a record of 54-7-1 with 34 knockouts, is a former WBC middleweight world champion. He claimed the championship in June 2011 by decisively outpointing Sebastian Zvik and successfully defended his title three times. Chavez has been competing in the cruiserweight division for his last three fights.

This win was significant for Paul as it positioned him within the WBC rankings at 200 pounds, bringing him closer to his ambition of challenging for a world title. WBC President Mauricio Suleiman indicated that the WBC Review Committee is closely monitoring Paul’s career and will make future decisions based on his performance against Chavez and the fight’s overall dynamics.

Fan Take: Jake Paul’s progression into the cruiserweight rankings signals a growing legitimacy and recognition in the traditional boxing world, exciting fighting fans eager to see crossover stars elevate the sport’s profile. This victory could open doors for more high-profile bouts, potentially bridging the gap between mainstream entertainment and professional boxing competition.
