F1 Unveils Exciting Changes to 2026 Rules Test Schedule

Three Formula 1 testing sessions are scheduled before the 2026 season begins, giving teams additional time to adapt to the new technical regulations. The first session will take place behind closed doors in Barcelona from January 26 to 30, with no fan attendance or TV coverage allowed.

Significant changes to the engine and chassis rules mean teams will benefit from more practice before the season kicks off. Following the initial test, two more will be held in Bahrain: the second from February 11 to 13, and the final from February 18 to 20, right before the Australian Grand Prix.

In other news, the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix date has been adjusted to Saturday to respect national holidays. Saturday races are becoming more common in F1, as seen with the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which also does not take place on a Sunday. Additionally, the Saudi Arabia and Bahrain Grands Prix were moved to 2024 to avoid clashing with the holy month of Ramadan.

Fan Take: This extended testing period under new regulations is crucial for teams to fine-tune their cars, promising a more competitive and exciting 2026 season. Adjustments to race dates show F1’s flexibility and respect for cultural events, helping the sport grow its global fanbase.
