The group stage of the 2025 Club World Cup has concluded, leading clubs into the knockout round. Paris Saint-Germain advanced from Group B alongside Botafogo, while Atletico Madrid failed to meet the goal threshold necessary to progress.

On Monday night, Inter Miami, despite struggles, secured a second-place finish in Group A following a draw with Palmeiras.

Monday’s Club World Cup Results

Paris Saint-Germain 2, Seattle Sounders FC 0

Paris Saint-Germain dominated the Seattle Sounders, securing their spot in the knockout round after a strong performance. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 35th minute, ensuring PSG avoided a second consecutive loss after their earlier defeat to Botafogo. Achraf Hakimi added a second goal in the 66th minute, assisting on a brilliant pass from Bradley Barcola. PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had a quiet night without needing any saves. The Sounders became the second MLS team to exit the tournament, joining LAFC. PSG is slated to face Inter Miami on Sunday in the next round (12 pm, Dazn).

Atletico Madrid 1, Botafogo 0

Even with a win, Atletico Madrid will not advance to the knockout stage. The team needed at least a three-goal victory to qualify from Group B. Antoine Griezmann found the net in the 87th minute, scoring from a cross by Julian Alvarez. Both teams missed earlier opportunities, with Atletico’s goalkeeper Jan O’Black making a crucial save against Jefferson Sabarino. Atletico Madrid outshot Botafogo 23-7 despite managing only one goal.

FC Porto 4, Al Ahly 4

This match was a goal-fest, with neither team advancing to the next stage. Al Ahly led 2-1 at halftime, but both sides exchanged three goals within a mere three minutes early in the second half. The match ended dramatically with Pepê equalizing in the 89th minute with a stunning long-range shot.

Inter Miami CF 2, Palmeiras 2

Hello. Inter Miami looked poised to top Group A after scoring twice early on. Tadeo Allende netted the first goal in the 16th minute, followed by Luis Suarez’s solo effort in the second half. However, Palmeiras made a late comeback, scoring twice in the final ten minutes to secure the draw. Despite the slip, Inter Miami advanced to the knockout stage, where they will face PSG. Palmeiras will confront Brazilian rivals Botafogo on Saturday in Philadelphia (12 pm, Dazn).

Highlights of the Day

The standout moment goes to Pepe, who delivered an impressive long-range goal for Al Ahly in their match.
