Jake Paul is back in the ring, returning to action after his widely publicized but disappointing fight against “Iron” Mike Tyson in November. This time, Paul will face former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who once held the title. Paul, 28, made headlines when he brought 58-year-old Tyson back to professional boxing for the first time in two decades. Despite being labeled a “problem child,” Paul won a contentious decision against the boxing legend. Now, with a record of 11-1, Paul aims to build momentum for a potential bout with Canelo Alvarez by defeating Chavez Jr., whose record stands at 54-6-1 with one no contest. Chavez Jr., son of a three-division world champion, recently secured back-to-back wins over David Zegarra and Ulises Hall but suffered his last defeat against former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

The full fight card for Paul vs. Chavez Jr. includes several other bouts, such as Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez defending his WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles against Uniel Dorticos, Floyd Schofield vs. Tevin Farmer, and others across different weight classes. The event takes place on June 28th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, with the main card starting at 8 pm and the main event ring walk around 11 pm. Fans can watch the fights on DAZN pay-per-view for $59.99.

Fan Take: This showdown is significant for fight fans because it pits YouTube sensation Jake Paul against a seasoned boxing veteran, highlighting the growing crossover appeal in combat sports. The result could not only boost Paul’s credibility in boxing but also push the sport toward more unconventional and high-profile matchups, expanding its audience beyond traditional fans.
