Chelsea will meet with representatives of Liam Dellup and will have more meetings over the Ipswichtown striker’s transfer contract.
According to Simon Phillips, the 22-year-old has been impressed in the Premier League this season, and despite Manchester United also holding talks, he appears to remain at Chelsea’s tourist attraction this summer.
Both Chelsea and Mann UTD need new signatures ahead of time this summer, so it makes sense for them both to chase Dellup after a very respectable tally of 12 goals and two assists in the Premier League.
I imagine Delap could be even better with the good players around him, but he should also get better with age and more experience under his belt.
Liam Dellup is Chelsea or Manchester United?
Dellup has to choose his next club carefully, and it’s not clear whether Chelsea or United are better choices for him now.
On the one hand, Chelsea is far above the Red Devils at the Premier League table, so this long-term project could be closer to building around talented young players.
Meanwhile, Bruce oversees a huge turnover for players, despite years being chaotic when he cut and changed managers.
However, United are not at their best either.
Recently, many top players have retreated and improved after leaving at Old Trafford, so Delap is a good place to consider.
Who is leading the race for Liam Dellup?
It’s not clear at this point who will win this transfer battle, but the latest Chelsea News Phillips for the CFC sounds pretty optimistic about this.
“Chelsea laid a lot of groundwork for signing Dellup in January. He’s very open and interested in moving to Stamford Bridge,” Phillips said.
“The report on United’s move clearly appears to stem from his preferences in that part of the UK. I have not heard this personally (I’m not saying it’s not true).”
He added:
“Chelsea plans to have more consultations with Delap’s representatives, and players will make a decision after the weekend.”
