Former Los Angeles infielder Koltenwon has announced his retirement from baseball, where his baseball journey began in Hawaii.

At Murakami Stadium at the University of Hawaii, Wong dumped the first pitch before the Rainbow Warriors matchup against UC San Diego. He took the time to talk to the Honolulu crowd and revealed that he would hang his cleats.
“Now, I’m almost done,” Wong said on Spectrum News. “I’m probably going to hang them out. That’s one of the things that I don’t feel like chasing it, how the game is going on right now, or that it’s going to be chasing (it’s). …I’m enjoying it now.
Wong, 34, spent 11 seasons in major league baseball and spent part of the 2023 season with the . The two-time Gold Glove winner signed a minor league contract with the organization in August. He played five games with minors before the called him on September 1st.
In Wong’s first career with the , he hit a three-run home run. Wong reduced .300/.353/.500 with 20 games in LA at the end of the 2023 campaign. He was 30-3, with two Homer and eight runs hit.
Wong became a free agent following the 2023 season, but after a stint with the , he saw no playing time in the Big League.
The infielder spent most of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals, the team that drafted Wong in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft. In the 20 season with Cardinals from 2013, Wong won two Gold Globes in 2019 and 2020 in 2019 and 2020, and three Fielding Bible Awards from 2018-20.
Wong is a career .265 batter on 86 home runs and 120 stolen bases. His 22.0 career BWAR ranks as the eighth highest total in the 2011 standout draft class, featuring Gerrit Cole, Francisco Lindor and current Blake Snell.
