Despite leaving the Yankees for the Mets in December 2024, Hwang Soto downplayed the importance of the upcoming subway series between the two New York MLB franchises.

Juan Soto gives us a solid stance on the upcoming Mets vs Yankees series

In December 2024, Juan Soto became the greatest MLB player of all time and the first player to sign a 15-year deal by agreeing to a $765 million contract with the New York Mets.

Participating directly from the Yankees with the Mets has only been done by a handful of selected players in the past, but Soto’s deals are so daunting that he had no choice.

Soto’s opening months with the Mets were nothing extraordinary. He seemed to be struggling with his new home, but the Dominicans began picking up the pace, showing why he was making a lot of money.

So far in May 2025, Soto had an OPS of 1.067 and hit five home runs. This means that the 26 year old is sitting in 20 RBIs in the regular season.

As for the New York Mets as a whole, it was a strong start to the 2025 season, with the MLB franchise currently sitting at the top of the National League after winning 28 of its 43 games (losing 15).

They are currently undefeated from opening three matches in a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, moving on to the Yankees’ next subway series from May 16th.

This was the first time Juan Soto has faced his previous side, adding a subplot to an already interesting encounter, and the Mets star revealed that he doesn’t treat it differently than a normal MLB collision.

Juan Soto said: “I think the subway series is just another series where we’re going out there and trying to win a series. We have to keep moving forward and forget who’s going to face it.
