Freddie Freeman had scored a 3-1 count when the game was called. The score was 0-0.
Clayton Kershaw was in the middle of a strong start with his second appearance since coming off the 60-day injury list. He pitched two shutouts and hitless innings, allowing one walk with one strikeout.
The hope that the delay won’t last too long. After that, Friday will turn into a bullpen game. This is not ideal for a team that has already led MLB in bullpen innings in 213.2 innings.

The New York Mets have announced that another wave of rain is expected at 8:35pm local time. The game will not resume until a wave of rain passes.
The game will officially resume at 9:35pm local time.
