Financial anxiety for Scott Redding’s WorldSBK team?

The MGM Bonovo Ducati team will not be new WorldSBK outfits by 2025, but changes compared to previous seasons have reduced to one bike on Scott Reading, and it is possible that the end of the season will not be able to achieve.

Until the end of last season, the MGM team worked closely with the Bayern factory to run the BMW machines.

However, when Bonovo’s Jurgen Roder announced he would retire from his team’s ownership late last year, the team’s ownership was taken over by Michael Galinski (MGM stands for “Michael Galinski Motorsport”), and Bonovo remained as a sponsor.

There were good early signs of the new machinery in the new outfit, Reading and the team’s new machinery, as the British riders were able to finish in the top six in all three races in the Australian round in February.

However, since then, Redding has only been in the top six (Assen SuperPole Race), but at that point there are only the other top ten.

According to SpeedWeek, the MGM team may have already been off the grid in Misano’s Emilia-Romagna round in June, as a result of financial difficulties.

The German publication reports that MGM’s 2025 season is funded by a combination of teams’ own funding from owner Michael Galinsky. Sponsorship from Bonobo, which was supposed to cover two-thirds of this season’s budget. And by Redding himself, who is reportedly already offering 72% of the season’s financial obligations despite only five out of 12 rounds being held in 2025.

SpeedWeek reported that he began to encounter financial difficulties from MGM in April, and Galinski spoke with Assen’s WorldSBK Executive Director Gregorio Labilla to discuss the outcome of a possible withdrawal from the championship.

Additionally, the German team reportedly owes about 280,000 euros (£235,000) of debt with Ducati, and according to Speedweek, Ducati has extended the deadline to 60 days.

Additionally, if an external buyer wants a sponsor that has not been found to fill MGM’s current financial hole, he says it will take around 800,000 euros (670,000 pounds) to save the team this season.
